Health Eating With Low Glycemic Index Foods

Back to Tips

Tailor Your Energy Source to Fit Your Needs:

The glycemic index is used to measure an insulin response (blood sugar response) to food. The lower the GI the better (especially for Diabetics) to sustain energy levels for extended periods for time.

Excessive insulin levels cause:

  • retardation in the rate of wound healing
  • decreased life span
  • lethargy and lipogenesis (the formation of fatty acids in the body)

Well modulated insulin levels:

  • reduce body fat
  • increase or sustain energy levels
  • increase mental alertness
  • decrease serum cholesteral levels
  • decrease the incidence of high blood pressure
